Australian/New Zealand Training

at Fund Raising Institutes

For over six years, Joan Mason served as faculty of these international Institutes. By developing specific curriculum that met the needs of the 'rules of giving' in each country, she traveled to various sites in Australia and New Zealand and conducted workshops on annual fund, major gifts and the fundamentals of marketing and fundraising.

Training's Provided at Annual Meetings

Acting as a keynote speaker for the nonprofits (NGO's) in these countries, she was able to assist the professional associations in beginning to develop their own "train the trainer" programs in fund raising disciplines. Taking careful note, for instances, in the difference in tax laws between the countries in issues such as planned giving, careful preparation was made in the delivery to assure the participants that the rules of their own country were being adhered to.

This helped to orchestrate the certification program for fundraising becoming a reality in Australia and developing ongoing relationships between the Association of Fund Raising Professionals and the professional institutes in Australia.

Ongoing e-mail connections developed with the various charities in each country and some have traveled to the U.S. to take further training courses from The Fund Raising School at Indiana University, where Joan serves as a core faculty member.

Additionally, she writes articles from time to time for the Australian based fundraising newsletter entitled MUSINGS and continues to communicate with charities throughout the countries down under.

Fund Raising Counsel Provided in Australia

Due, in part to the exposure of workshops conducted at the annual conferences in Australia, clients began to be developed in South Australia. Earth Sanctuary, an environmental organization concerned with saving the habitat and future of endangered species hired The Mason Group to conduct a Resource Development Audit and began their private sector fundraising program. This relationship lasted three years of ongoing consulting and multi visits occurred to assure the best possible results. Additionally, the Art's Counsel of Adelaide Australia hired our firm to consult with them on corporate sponsorships for their annual art fair.
