Joan Mason, CFRE,

Founder and President

Operating out of The Mason Group, Inc., a full-service fundraising and marketing firm in Denver, Joan provides counsel and teaches technical assistance to charities of all sizes. Working "in the trenches" as fundraising counsel for her clients, she facilitates growth by utilizing an excellent blend of skills and expertise to positively affect their current and future bottom line.

In addition to operating as a consultant, Joan has served as Director of Development in-house for numerous charities. Working with the in-house team of professionals, she guides the campaign forward using the latest in knowledge, training, board development and/or utilizing anything that is needed to reach the development goals.

Training for the Non Profit Sector

One of the specialties that she brings to the field is that of training. Utilizing a charismatic style of teaching, she has developed skills as one of the nations best fundraising trainers of board of directors and development professionals. As a lead faculty member of The Fundraising School housed at the University of Indiana, serving as one of the original faculty members at Metro State College in Denver as well as serving as ad hoc specialist in numerous training scenarios, Joan has provided invaluable skills-based learning to hundreds of charities worldwide.

By training the entire organization in the development process comprehensively, Joan has made an incredible difference in the future fund raising of a number of local, regional and national charities.

Campaign Development and Implementation

Specializing in capital campaigns as well as annual fund development, The Mason Group, Inc., under Joan’s leadership has completed numerous campaigns that have met nonprofit organization’s campaign needs.

Taking the organization from the infancy of an idea of a campaign to the long-term management and implementation stage - remain a specialty for which Joan has been called upon often.
